Merri was an elegant young woman who enjoyed nothing more than dancing and long walks alone in space.
She went to most parties just to dance and watch people. While she was skilled at socializing, it wasn't something she enjoyed and it wore her out quickly.
She liked to walk alone outside the station she lived on, enjoying the feeling of such vast loneliness, while still having company just under her feet, should she want it.

They met when Merry transferred to the Vida Colony for work. She had no friends but had the good fortune to to meet Baz while out shopping one day. Baz complemented her outfit, and she his, and the two were friends ever since.

While at a first glance these two seem unlikely to get along, what with Merry's quiet reserved nature and Baz's bombastic personality, the two are actually fairly good friends. Merry never feels like she has to carry a conversation when Baz is around, and the two have a love of art, especially where it involves fashion. They often go to parties together and use each other as an excuse not to stay with one group to long or hurt peoples feelings when they turn them down for dance or date requests.
