Fairy Witch

Free spirits who throw themselves into magic and the pursuit of knowledge, Fairy Witches are people who live outside of society, but not apart from it. Specifically, Fairy Witches are those who use their knowledge to help others in some way. These are usually through some sort of contract made, though not necessarily with the person being affected by the contract.
Contracts can be made with the affected with full knowledge, partial knowledge or no knowledge at all. They may be roped into it by family members, or from the Fairy Witch's own volition, seeing a person and taking it upon themselves to teach a lesson. Those who are directly affected by a Fairy Witch's involvement is known as a mark.
Lessons can range from mild spells cast to curses, adventures and bribes of riches.
These are usually immaculate performances that take a lot of personal effort on the part of the Fairy Witch and are dangerous for many reasons. Fairy Witches must be highly skilled in magic in order to mediate all aspects of a contract and account for any surprises or changes in the plan. For this reason, many Fairy Witches also have the title of Witch Princess.
The reasons for employment of a Fairy Witch, if they are even hired, is as numerous as there are are marks of the witch. Recurring reasons a Fairy Witch gets involved include status, survival, outlook, life and riches.

Status could include the agreement that the mark undergo a trial or ordeal for the chance to change their personal status or lot in life or even their ultimate fate. This can be an out of sorts from one life to another, going up or down social ranks or into a new social system altogether. Survival includes an agreement to save the life of someone, usually the mark themselves. Outlook is the most controversial of the typical systems a Fairy Witch can get involved in and the most dangerous. Outlook is usually a lesson taught to the mark in some way, usually through a curse meant to drive them forward to change. Humans tend to be the most resistant to change and can lash out at the Fairy Witch, who must stay close by to watch over their mark, and kill them. Life usually affects the mark on a more spiritual level as it usually deals with relationships. Mostly in the form of friendships and romance. This is also a dangerous route, as men often see the vanquishing of the witch as the trial or suffering needed to win their love. Riches is typically a safe option and usually is a pure humanitarian act of giving those they think are worthy wealth to overcome hardships and improve their lives.

Ways a Fairy Witch can approach the task can vary from witch to witch, but it is generally accepted practice that curses be placed on the marks to promote the idea of moving forward to break it. These curses usually are changing the physical appearance of the mark in some way, either for certain amounts of time, or full time. Curses can also include binding the person to an object or place. When it is deemed safer, a witch can disguise him or herself and attempt to directly influence the mark. If this doesn't work, more drastic methods are implemented.

Individuals need to have extensive knowledge on magic in order to successfully pull off the feats of a Fairy Witch. They need to be cunning, swift and careful. Good multitasking and management skills are needed as well. Planning is essential, especially the ability to go over multiple scenarios and plan for different outcomes. Changing on the fly and quick adaptability are also essential. It is typical that Praecantrix and occasionally Deus are Fairy Witches. Due to the difficulties and dangers of being a Fairy Witch, it's preferable they be over the age of sixteen.
