Wulf's Letter Home

Wulf's Letter Home is the letter that Wulf Grunewald wrote to his father — Falk Grunewald — after the fateful Battle of the Grunewalds. The letter is made public in the museum of Amberfrey shortly after the end of the Lusatian-Fespelan War with permission from Wulf. It is known to be a heartfelt letter from a heartbroken and angry son to his father.

There are references to Dieter Abt in the letter. Dieter was the childhood friend of Wulf, and had died during the Battle of the Grunewalds. Dieter is posthumously given the noble title of Margrave for his sacrifice in defeating four Fespelan War Machines. He was only a Viscount before his death.

There are also references to Wulf's wife — Liese Grunewald née Brandle — and their children — Nikolaus Grunewald and Sascha Grunewald.

Wulf's Letter Home

Dearest Father,

I have defeated the Fespelan Main Force here in Snowfell, but the victory comes with great trepidation. Dieter sacrificed himself to take down the last War Machine we were able to defeat. Thanks to him, we were able to defeat the enemy with far fewer casualties than was predicted. I am grateful, but I truly, dearly miss him already. My grief for Grandfather mixes and mingles with my grief for Dieter and my grief for my fallen soldiers.

Still, I know that my job here will not be finished until I drive back the Fespelan force to their border. I must stop their invasion. I must take my revenge. They have given me no time to grieve for Grandfather and, now, have killed my oldest companion. I shall not let this stand. They will feel my wrath and ire to their very cores. They will rue the day they crossed me.

I wish I could reunite with you, with Mother, with my wife, with my children. But, I shall not return until I secure a lasting peace with Fespela. I shall not tire of my duty until I can guarantee a future without this war for my family. Please, care for Liese, for Niko, for Sascha on my behalf. Please, if I should die, continue to care for them. If I should not return, they must know my love through you.
