Clara Beaulieu is a Princess of Skayton. She is the daughter of Florine Beaulieu and her husband David. Clara is the older sister of Luc Beaulieu, the wife of Jean-Christophe Beaulieu, and the mother of Marie Beaulieu.

Clara is a hopeless romantic who enjoys meddling in her friends' love lives. She loves to read romance novels; a particular favorite is "A Tale on the Winds". She often attempts to play match-maker for her friend and guard — Calanthe Megalos — which usually does not work out in either of their favors.

She is mischievous and loves to tease, but she genuinely cares for her friends and family. She will often play pranks she sees as being "harmless fun". One example is when she hired a bard to follow around one of her peers for an entire day, playing a shawm. Unfortunately for Clara, her pranks often result in hurt feelings.

She has a relatively good standing with the people of Skayton, although some see her as being too carefree and most see her as unsuited to the throne. Her immaturity has led even her mother to believe Luc to be the better leader for Skayton. As such, he is being given the lessons that would've fallen to Clara.

History

Jean-Christophe and Clara married a few short months after their courtship began partially due to an arranged marriage deal made between their mothers. Jean-Christophe initially had many affairs after their marriage, but realized that he truly did love Clara and that he was hurting her by being unfaithful soon after she became pregnant with Marie. Jean-Christophe then resolved to change his adulterous ways, and change them he did.
