Istvia

Istvia is a small, Ruritanian country bordering Kaliningrad and Lithuania, and lies adjacent to the Baltic Sea. As of 2028, it has an estimated population of 1.3 million (this number, however, was culled significantly during the military coup of 2032). Istvia's largest city and capital is the coastal metropolis of Lokost.   Istvia's official language is Istvian. A large portion of the population are descended from the nomadic Artuk tribes of Eastern-Russia, and find their home in the ancient ruins of Agririe, Istvia's second-largest city. Artuk-Agrians' religious practices are pagan and largely undocumented, while the majority of Istvians practice a form of Eastern-Orthodox Christianity.   Though still in many senses an agrarian society, Istvia sits atop a wealth of iron ore, and thus experienced a great economic boom during the 20th century. Thought technically a Baltic nation, Istvia is a largely autarkical country. Its President, Jullit Propol, seized power in 2032 with the assistance of the New-SVR. Trade presently operates within the parameters of Propol's junta, as enforced by the Istvian milijia.
