The Islands of Evocation

Though Enthallus and the other Enchantment Islands are officially the oldest inhabited lands in the archipelago, The Islands of Evocation were home to Selkies long ago. They gathered a detailed collection of history from all over the Ancient Seas and methodically filed it away in libraries which took up entire islands.   The keep them and their knowledge safe, the Selkies' patron, The Librarian charged powerful water elementals to protect them. When Sea Monsters roamed the area, the warded them off by cocooning the islands, turning them into a frozen haven.   When stability was brought to the Archipelago, the Evocation Islands opened their doors, but as centuries of architecture and design had revolved around ice, the Elementals kept this area as lands of snow.   Today, the Evocation Islands, and mostly their capital, Evik, are chilly destinations, but packed with a concentration of knowledge so dense that it may be the greatest stronghold of lore in the Ancient Seas.

Geography

Sailing into The Evocation Islands can be startling. The warm waters and air of the tropical Archipelagos around them are suddenly cut off by sharp chilling breezes. Before long, massive icebergs can be seen floating in the water, the chunks that break off floating towards the Iceline (the divide which marks the end of the Water Elementals' protection) and melting quickly after they pass.   The smaller islands are decorated with evergreen trees that are sprinkled with snow. Many of these islands are tourist traps for those who would prefer to stay at warm, comfortable resorts and only make day trips out to the less forgiving main event.   The main island, Evik, is bordered by a ring of snowy mountains: sentinels sculpted by the water elementals. A series of trains run on elevated tracks around, and through them: criss-crossing over the city the mountains cradle. The largest mountain is at the centre of the island and contains some of the oldest books the Seas have ever seen.
