Wappi Locathans

The Wappi Locathans are the Locathahof the Isles of Edren, located primarily in the Locathan Depths to the north of Wappi.   The Locathans spent most of their history as slaves to the Merfolk, using them for labor intensive tasks, fishing, and other tasks the Merfolk simply didn't want to do. The Locathans are relatively docile people, so there were very few rebellions.   In 1235, The Engineer's Navy dealt a devastating blow to the Merfolk, and a large number of Locathans were freed. Slavery is an offense in the Isles that is highly illegal, often times punishable by summary execution. The slavers were executed, and the Locathans were taken in by The Engineers to help them relocate. It's worth noting, there are still a large number of slaves still being held by the Merfolk.   The freed Locathans found a new home on the northern bay of Wappi, now known as the Locathan Depths,. using the underwater cave systems as their new home. The Locathah generally stay out of political issues, so long as their small community is left unaffected. They primarily export fish to the Engineers, providing high quality at low cost.    The Wappi Locathans speak with a distinct accent, however to an outsider they nearly all sound the same.   There has been a resurgence of Merfolk over the last few years, some attacking the Locathans directly. The Merfolk believe the Locathans have become traitors to the Ocean and they need to sever ties with The Engineers and all citizens of the Isles of Edren, and become slaves to the Merfolk again.
