The Days before Thaydor

The country that the Urskur call home, the country known as Thaydor, has had an interesting history. At first the land had no name known to the outside inhabitants because it was only a land that the most ruthless and most violent would dwell. These fearsome inhabitants called this land Askutlu, which meant "bloodied land" in their tongue. For the occupants that were before the Urskur were war focused and not friendly to outsiders or even people outside their tribe. Bloodshed was so common in the days of early Thaydor that the one pre-Urskur were likely to kill one or two people in a day on a normal basis. But after years of this barbaric nature two people, a husband and a wife, had enough and deserted their current ways to go on a spirit quest to find a true purpose for a living. After years and years of searching, the couple found their freedom and went quickly to others that happened to follow them. They quickly spread the new way of living amongst their followers and went to convert the rest of their people. Some people went willingly, while some put up quite a fight but ended up giving in, and while the others were livid by their ex-brethren's' treachery, trying to kill the betrayers in the process. The enlightened folk expressed their need of not resorting to violence but eventually they discovered that for the individuals that were resistant to conversion either died by the hands of the enlightened or went off by themselves to eventually die out married to the old ways. After about a hundred years the Urskur became what we know today. A people who represent a melting pot of all cultures and have cities that constantly change along with their governments, fashion, cuisine, and architecture. Some say this is because the Urskur are curious and want to constantly explore new avenues of life where other's know that this is because the Urskur have a fear of reverting back to their barbaric roots.
