The Sleeping God
Devishtari and Devaziti made the world with their hands, sculpting and giving it life and entropy. While Devishtari was said to put herself into the world and the elements as she was content with her creation, Devaziti wanted to create more. He had a passion burning within him that he knew would soon burn out. Devaziti, with the last bit of his energy left pushed and pulled at the earth, making it rise and fall to his whim.
Eventually his energy waned, and instead of spreading his influence through the world like his reflection, he instead fell from the cosmos and landed in the earth. It is said that the rocks and soil swallowed him up, and became like a burial ground for him to rest in for eternity.
Brief
The myth of The Sleeping God covers the God Devaziti primarily, with mentions of the mother goddess, Devishtari. It discusses the creation myth of the world, and mentions how Devaziti is slumbering under the earth.Cultural Acceptance
Exitum Somnus vs General Populace
The cult that wishes for the slumbering god to awaken have taken over Devaziti's Barrow, and often preform rituals and ceremonies hoping for the god to awaken and bring destruction and change to the world. Others believe this to just be story and fairy-tale, but give the location a wide berth. The Exitum Somnus is the only group of people to live within The Barrow.Historical Basis
What is considered inspiration, or perhaps proof that this myth is real is the location Devaziti's Barrow. The unending fires under the ground and the vicious cracks have many believing there is something under the earth, and there are often comparisons to the God Devaziti. Many illustrations and representations of Devaziti show the smoke as the same colour from the Barrow, and compare his firery skin to the glow of the fires that endure at the location.
