The Eight Arms of Devishtari
Brief
The Eight Arms of Devishtari is a sculpture of the Mother Goddess, Devishtari. The sculptor is unknown, with many potential sculptors theorized by history. The sculpture is a piece of grace and power, imposing an awe upon any who look upon it. While there are sculptures of Devishtari, many do not sculpt her with the typical iconography of eight arms, instead opting for two. This is one of the few sculptures that has all eight of Devishtari's arms and even goes a step farther to be made out of multiple materials.Construction
Main Body
The Eight Arms of Devishtari's body is constructed out of a blue goldstone to represent the glittering star-like nature of her skin. Through impressive feats of sculpture and engineering, there were slots carved into parts of the torso to allow specially carved arms to be placed in Devishtari to help with the struggle against gravity and ensure that the piece will stay together as long as possible. The Eight Arms
Each of the eight arms represent an element, and is carved in a specific type of stone. Each arm is posed in pairs, spread out around her. The only duplication in stone is of her body and the arm that represents fire-- Each is Goldstone, though one is red and the other is a deep blue.Base
The base of the Statue adds another half foot to the total height, and is made out of heavy and made of dark walnut wood. There is a golden plaque attached that has a prayer written to Devishtari in the various languages of Isidoro.History
Sculptor Lost to Time
The original sculptor is unknown and various holy churches have been lobbying to get the sculpture moved to their temple. It is currently in a national museum until an agreement can be reached as to protect it from heavy damage. Others have suggested that the statue be moved to the Nexus Temple but an agreement has still not been made.
