Piray Canyon

Brief

The Piray Canyon, ocassionally called the Fissure, is known for its harsh conditions suitable for only a small fraction of isidoro species and is considered inhospitable. Many attribute the success of survival to the Hidden Sapphire river that runs directly through.

With grueling heat and disagreeable enviroments, living near or around the Piray Canyon is not recommended.

Geography

General

The Piray Canyon is known for its incredible depth, and dazzling view from the top of the rockfaces. The canyon is in the northern edge of Piray, while crossing ever so slightly across the border into Erbar in the west.

Cliffwalls

The Cliffs of the Piray Canyon are made of limestone in a russet colour, occasionally highlighted with other rich yellow and red warm tones. Due to how soft limestone is, it is easily dug out and washed away both by nature and species that live nearby like earth dragons or lightning dragons.

Earth dragons have created many large caves and burrows in the walls typically at dizzying heights, while lightning dragons tend to make their homes at the top of the canyon. The lightning dragons will dig down from the top, using some of the harder rocks to mask the entrances. It is not uncommon for the two cave and burrow systems to intersect.

Inhabiting Species
The harsh sunlight and desert heat are the worst at noon, when the sun hangs directly overhead. One would think the river would dry out, but by Deveira's graces-- or perhaps Devbasta's-- it perserveres and allows us to continue living in the canyon. We can escape the harsh conditions by easing into the caverns dug into the canyon walls by earth dragons that are willing to co-habitate with us.
