Brief
Edward Byrne is an only child of a Human mother and father, and is heavily estranged from his family. Edward feels strongly about people in need, and is an incredibly charitable person with both his finances and time; when he's not working, he's often donating his time to charities and other events to help impoverished communities. Edward is seen among his peers as a highly focused scientist and philanthropist, pushed forward by his tough start in life.Falling on Hard Times
Edward doesn't remember much of his childhood, and what he can remember, he chooses not to speak of. Estranged from his family, he learned from others that his parents apparently owed money and favors to the wrong type of people and were in incredible debt as a result. When push came to shove, they sold their only son to a skeevy company to wipe away their debt and fled town.
This left Edward alone with strangers and no chance for help. He was poked and prodded with medical tools and eventually with enough magic and genetic modification, was 'gifted' with the set of wings that now adorn his back.
Run-in with Fae
Edward has an....odd tic. He can't lie. Literally. Edward is incapable of lying to others, and has been since he was a young adult. He managed to slight a Fae, and in her fury, she cursed him with what she called a 'minor' charm. She told him that when he could find her and make things right with her, she would undo her magic. Edward has been in contact with her for many years and while they have a strained acquaintance-like relationship, she claims he still hasn't learned his lesson. In the meantime, he's managed to work around this curse by learning to lie by omission when needed, or word his statements skirting the truth if need be. As a result, Edward's mannerisms often have people believing he's a fae due to his somewhat silver-tongue.Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Edward is tall and lithe with more of a stereotypical 'nerd' physique than a bulky, heavy lifter. Most of his intimidation factor - if any - are the large, heat radiating wings that he has on his back. He has a few medical scars on his arms from his time as an unwilling experiment, but has recovered well enough that looking at him, you wouldn't be able to tell unless you saw them.

Personal history
As mentioned previously, Edward loathes his childhood. Being sold to erase his parents' debt and then never seeing them again added to the trauma he suffered.
After three years of his life being taken by the company, it was eventually found out by a whistle blower, and Edward was given assistance to move on with his life.
He became absorbed in the same science that changed his and so many others' bodies, and strives to understand how, so that perhaps one day the damage they did could be undone.

Edward is a well-studied and intelligent individual. He is well versed in book-smarts and emotional intelligence, and is often looked up to. After his difficulties in his early years, Edward managed to obtain grants and loans to help support himself through schooling and is now a somewhat known name in his field due to his student and graduate papers.

Employment
Edward is currently at work in Penumbra. Casina Grace discovered his papers in the scientific sphere and decided to hire him as soon as possible.
Prior to this he was a lab assistant, working on advancing the topics of his papers by working with older peers in the industry.
Mental Trauma
Due to his upbringing, Edward suffers from PTSD, along with night terrors. Small rooms, especially ones that lock from the outside make him uncomfortable, and if he gets locked in or trapped in a small space, it can trigger flashbacks and other trauma responses.
