Desiree's Stones

Magic Locked Into Gems

Brief

The true name of these gemstones are unknown, but now are called Desiree's Stones. A more commonly used name is Desire Stones, though that is mostly outside of Haven. They are seven gemstones of varying types and sizes, and are are imbued with the mana and magic abilities of an incredibly skilled magician. As a result they are one of a kind. Their last known location is a temple dedicated to said magician - Desiree Bentley - in her home town of Haven, within Laeksiv.

They are considered a sacred item to her bloodline as well as inhabitants of the town, and as a result dedicated descendants or worthy magic users watch over them to avoid them being used for ill-willed magic.

Creator

The creation of these stones are multi-faceted. While they are named after Desiree Bentley, there were multiple craftsmen involved in their creation with their names being unfortunately lost to time Desiree was known in her efforts to unite magic and mankind advancements as technology began to advance. She could likely be considered one of the first pioneers for magi-tech creations. Desiree was known to travel, and her thirst for knowledge of the many types of magic brought her insight, but also her doom; while travelling to learn as well as spread her message of co-existence, Desiree was rumoured to have caught a deadly disease.

With the fear of all of her knowledge and skills being lost to all, Desiree had her closest friends collect seven stones-- to carve and tumble them to her set specifications. When they were ready, Desiree transfered her mana and imbued they crystals with various spells and abilities she'd learned. Desiree's energy is linked to these crystals, and many say that as long as they're in one piece, a piece of Desiree still persists in the mortal coil.

A Collection of Power

Althea

The Healer
Althea is a spherical, tumbled, and polished Rutilated Quartz. Deep within itself, the rutile inclusions glow a bright gold. This stone is said to hold within itself immense healing power, capable of amazing feats of physical healing. However there have been no beings in Isidoro since Desiree's passing that have been able to use this stone on it's own; any documentation of its use has been linked to Polloi.

Cyrus

Cyrus

Future Sight
Cyrus is a teardrop shaped, carved, and polished Sapphire. Within its facets, there appears to be a faint purple shimmer, though many assume it's a trick of the light. It is documented that Cyrus allows whomever is holding it to obtain the gift of future sight magic while it's in their possession. The validity of the visions is debated amongst the few that have been allowed to handle it.

Euthymus

Foresight
Euthymus is a carved and polished Poppy Jasper. This stone is rumored to glow a deep red to light pink, though due to its disappearance years ago no one can verify the claims with 100% certainty. It is said that Euthymus used to give the holder the ability to uncannily perceive when events or people were untrustworthy or dangerous. It seemed to raise their passive perception of others, and allow their intuition to lead them.

Polloi

Polloi

The Enhancer
Polloi is a spherical, tumbled, and polished Tourmalinated Quartz. The inclusions within this gem glow a deep navy, shifting occasionally to purple. This stone could be considered the ultimate Magic Enhancing Item, as Polloi is rumoured to have most of Desiree's mana pumped into it prior to her passing. Out of the seven, only one shows a dependence on Polloi, that being Althea.

Psyche

Perception and Illusion
Psyche is a polished, carved, and decoratively hollowed out Citrine. The shape is vaguely teardrop-shaped, though it is asymmetrical, with more carved out on the right. This gemstone is said to glow a vibrant gold and fiery red, the tones shifting to match the patterning of the stone itself. Psyche will give the holder the ability to create and cast illusions; their believability is solely dependent on the skill level of the user. It can also allow the user to gain access to others' minds.

Seraphina

Seraphina

Flight
Seraphina is a polished, slightly carved and tumbled Charoite. This stone is shaped vaguely like a stylized wing, though many have compared it to a leaf as well. Seraphina, when in use, glows deep blues and purples with an occasional flash of gold. Upon use, Seraphina's glow coats the users limbs and back in light, and many have claimed that the mana and light flickering off their body looks like wings. Seraphina allows the user to levitate briefly, or glide.

Themis

Persuasiveness
Themis is an amber, cut into a radiant design. This stone is one of the more vibrant of the seven, glowing an incredible gold and orange. When held, the user is filled with warmth and a sense of exuberant confidence, and the feeling that they can do anything, or get others to do whatever they please - which, they can-. Themis is able to give off a mild charm adjacent spell, along with allowing the user to speak eloquently and persuasively. This charm will leave them shortly after losing contact with Themis.
