"Yes, and nothing else has really helped. I've tried blood and bone marrow transplants, to name a few." Aaron sat across from Casina Grace, his expression tense. "Functional asplenia has my immune system shot. I have, if I'm being honest with you ma'am, a lower life expectancy and if I get sick it's not going to go well for me. I want this. At least if I die doing this, I'm helping with research instead of living with chronic pain and slowly fading away." His voice grew louder and he didn't expect it to. Casina raised her hands from her desk in a placating manner. "Aaron." she murmured. "I...Before I let you agree to this...You'll have to undergo therapy and examinations. If you really want this, we'll figure it out...But I don't agree to have people sign up because they don't want to live anymore."
Brief
Aaron is the eldest child of his family, though he doesn't speak of them often. He was left to his own devices when he was younger due to his illnesses--mainly Sickle cell disease-- causing a crippled immune system, and was expected to pass at an early age. Aaron has made it into adulthood, but his life span is expected to be much shorter than the average ice dragon.A Willing Experiment
Due to his diseases and chronic pain, Aaron usually scoured the internet and anywhere he could for medical treatment that could help him. He found out through...Illicit research that Penumbra was beginning to work on a substance that would ideally help eradicate disease. It took little time for him to travel to their main headquarters and demand that he speak to a head researcher or Ms. Grace herself.Consequences and Risks
Aaron did survive his drug trials, however there were unseen side effects. His chronic pain was at a new level than before, and while his cells did repair it wasn't a permanent fix. He would be required to take booster shots for the rest of his life, and he had begun Glooming; however instead of his feathers and skin going white, it was black.
