The Stalking Enku

Children from the river strewn lands of Solanaveldt to the bowels of Duzanteer have heard tale of the Enku. A shadowy and warped presence, the Enku are said to be of Death's Essence expressed on the physical realm. Wise scholars and renowned theologians study and debate the merits of these stories to determine if any truth is to be found. However, those who travel inside Qalani ruins that have yet to be converted into shrines, looking for treasure, artifacts, or even easily transported pieces of oldstone will tell you that there is something there, watching and waiting...

Summary

Stories of the Enku have circulated for as long as there have been Kanoia. When speaking of it, most of the tales mention that they were deep inside Qalani ruins. There are variations of the experiences between the folks who have claimed to see foreboding figures, but the commonality is that they felt an unnerving sense of dread, like they were being watched and there was something that stayed just out of their line of sight.

Historical Basis

There is no evidence of the existence of these creatures beyond the tales told by Kanoia.

Variations & Mutation

A very common variation of the story, is parent's telling it to their children. Usually saying that the enku hunt down disobedient children who don't listen to the wisdom their elders. This probably correlates with the fear many Kanoia have to go into the often dangerous structures left by the Qalani.

Cultural Reception

The stories of the enku are told by many different peoples and cultures, probably due to the association with Death, which affects all Kanoia.
