Shrines of the Primeval

These structures are typically older than any Kanoia, these shrines are constructed in the ruins of ancient Qalani buildings. Typically the only thing that is the same between these places are the materials, an extremely durable substance that takes years if not decades of continuous mining to destroy or salvage from, also known as Oldstone. Any prayers or worship at these locations will depend widely on who is in control of the site, for example Elves will typically keep the site in whatever condition it was found in while Cavernborn typically try to reconstruct or reverse engineer the ruins into what most would consider a "usable" structure.

Purpose / Function

The reason why a Kanoia would go to one of these shrines will typically fall into one of two categories-

• One, they are there to seek out a spiritual connection to the Qalani. Many Kanoia believe that the Essence of the Qalani is still very active in this world, and seek to interact with it for any number of reasons. Some believe that the Qalani are still favored over the living breathing Kanoia, and that behaving like and understanding the Qalani is how they will become favored by the Empyrean.
• The other, is that to take the Qalani's position as the favored people of the Empyrean, you have to understand why and how they were powerful. These Kanoia will study and test artifacts from the Qalani. In the last few decades some have even started to dismantle things from the age of the Qalani in hopes of understanding how these things were made.

Alterations

Alterations to the structures themselves are rare, but it isn't uncommon to see minor patch jobs like reed thatching over a roof.

Architecture

These sites range in size from being able to only hold a handful of people, to entire cities. But one constant is the blocks made out of a material with a color of a light brown-blue, known as oldstone.
