Salt Reavers

The people of the Salt Islands have made the seas their home for countless generations. Their time on the sea has changed them physically, giving them wide stances verging on bow legged, being short on average for their race with a stocky build.

Salt Reaver bastards bear the name Ash.

Culture

Common Dress code

The Raiders dress in the best equipment they can afford with their spoils, which directly effects their standing. Armour is rarely heavier than Hide, and on the rare occasion a Reaver seeks something heavier the choice is almost universally a breastplate. Instead, a wealthy Reaver will seek out Hides of special creatures such as Displacer Beasts or Trolls.

Gender Ideals

Anyone can take any profession they like and are competent at, though high levels of government and management are reserved for women who spend more time on the isles than the average man, due to their @birthing obligations.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship is all about proving you are the best at what you do. Reavers display their physical prowess and give gifts of loot. Artists will offer their lifes greatest work. Scholars will sign off their greatest discoveries in the name of their would-be partners (the most extreme example of this is Beatrix The Bloody being credited with three major scientific discoveries after she was over heard proclaiming 'thinking stuff' is what impresses her most). This is a costly endeavour as the gifts given are not returned should an offer be refused.
