Bristle Lands

The Bristle Lands is an odd region that defies expected geographical formation. The centre is dominated by a large area of rocky hills, ringed by ancient woodlands and several dried river beds far too large to have formed by the hills.   The regions coastal boarder shares its sea with The Salts, leaving it open to regular raiding by Salt Reavers. Most of the rivers in The Bristles are along the coast and are fed from the sea during high tied. This sevearly limits the ability to move trade goods from the coast inland by way of boat, resulting in a great network of roads being constructed. No where else within Isgáry are are roads as well maintained or connected as in the Bristles, a feat no less remarkable considering the decentralised government that resides over the region.   The Bristles is home to the unwanted of Isgáry. Disgraced knights, noble sons and daughters far removed from a chance of inheritance, Scholars of ill repute, the wanted and unwanted. All come to The Bristles for a chance to found their own House and forge a future when all other avinues have been closed to them. This results in hundereds of 'Noble' Houses scattered all across the Bristles, many of which remain nomadic in nature though a few have found places to put down permanent roots.   Even the mightiest of Bristle Nobility cannot match the upper Echelons in more afluent regions, but unique to Bristle, the Houses have come together to form a council that resides over the region, solidifying their power and putting them on equal footing with the rest of the kingdom.

Geography

The Bristle Lands is dominated by a region of rocky hills with poor soil, little fauna and only the most hardy of flora known as the Bristle Hills. The region is also home to an unusually large number of dried up river beds and the Bristle Hills is ringed by a lush woodland, in stark contrast to the barren hills.   The woodlands vary but the oldest date back to the very founding of Isgáry and beyond, with some of the very first trees thought to reside here.   The centre of the Bristle lands is a harsh place of rocky soil across rolling hills. Little wild life or vegetation grows here beyond the moss that covers the weather worn bolders and the Thistle weeds growing in sporadic clumps, from which the region takes its name.   Though little variation in the hills can be noted, there is a slight increase in the elevations towards the centre of the region, though so gradual that any hill top will grant a visitor a view for many miles. There are a few streams and a small number of lakes within the Bristle Hills, though minor is size and supporting an extremely limited variety of aquatic life, generally no bigger than an adults finger which feeds on algae alone.
