Derathain is a small continent spanned by a single, mighty kingdom of the same name. The land is well known for its grasslands and stonework. While not aggressively expansionistic, Derathain is fiercely independent and holds its sovereignty over most other needs. They have set up a small colony on Aranel, but they are perhaps the lease invested in expanding their territory. Instead they remain there to ensure the dangerous Ravanni empires of Vel and Axia don't use Aranel as a staging ground for an assault on Derathain. To the north west of Derathain lies the Dutchy of Lestra. Once a part of Derathain proper, this area has announced its independence. Though they initially sought change within the limits of Derathaini government, they were ultimately labelled traitors. Most Derathaini consider Lestra to be the greatest enemy of their kingdom, though the Lestrans largely still consider themselves Derathaini and only defend their poorly defined borders in light of the viciousness of Derathaini attacks.
