Swordsman Zaknafein Baenre
Each person in a house has a role and a duty. No one should ever move beyond the role that was assigned to them at birth. Some of us are destined for greatness and should not have that taken away.— Zaknafein Baenre
Being the firstborn son comes with expectations in the noble houses of
Silver Elf society, ones that are even higher and stricter if one is the firstborn son of
House Baenre. Zaknafein Baenre was destined for greatness from birth, the expectation of following in his father's footsteps as house weapons master, serving his mother and sisters in battle or whenever necessary. But nothing is ever as it seems in
House Baenre, that greatness was taken from him, shifted away by two of his younger siblings.
Matron Zilvra Baenre tended to act outside of the traditions of her
society on occasion, far overstepping the boundaries set to reach her perfect end. Zaknafein witnessed the killing of his youngest brother in the name of protecting his title, of protecting the order of things that had always been
House Baenre. He would become the weapons master of the house without question, it was his destined right as the eldest son.
That role was stripped from him when his father named his youngest sister as swordsmaster, a title that had never been given to a woman.
Miz'ri was troublesome and a traitor, but even when she left
Eryndlyn, her title held, leaving Zaknafein with nothing but the paltry title of swordsman that was given to most men in a house. While a man of great strategy, something that had secured his position from an early age, he now fights with hatred, for his father and sister, for the loss of something that had been destined as his.
Social
I can definitely see why he would hate his father and sister. What a slight.
