Isalai

The first explorers to conquer the heavens and settle on distant planets thought that peace for humanity could be found among the stars.   They were wrong.   Hundreds of worlds with human inhabitants make for a chaotic political climate. Wherever humans stepped, wars followed, and the victors were always brutal. In all this mayhem, one stone stood firm. The planet Isalai, in all its history had never been set upon by invading forces. The military organization responsible for this was known throughout human space, their name spoken both in hushed fearful whispers and in triumphant, glorious tones.   The Wings of Isalai.   They are strident. Independent. And above all, efficient.   Trained in their citadel on their namesake planet, the Wings take up military causes wherever they feel they are needed, and exercise all the powers at their disposal to make sure right prevails. While self sustaining, the frequent donations the Wings receive from the Nations and Planets they save assist mean they walk the fine line between mercenaries, and heroes.   The planet at their core is the birthplace of the strength that allows the Wings to fly. It is the forge that makes the galaxy's heroes. People go to Isalai with hopes of earning wings of their own and joining the elite corps.   By popular saying, Isalai is where heroes go to live, and cowards go to die.
