History of the Gods

All peoples of the world are likely to have varying accounts of its creation. As most persons tend to center stories around their viewpoint, this is to be expected. And as no deity or spirit has seemed very interested in explaining the beginning of everything to any mortal, some things are likely to remain a mystery. Every creation story this historian has heard does have similar themes running through them, so it’s likely these similarities are there because of a truth that is around them. I will tell, in brief, what you might hear told in the High Temples of Galvania, as this is my perspective: Alkuperä, The Origin or The Great Beginner, who is almighty and beyond mortal understanding, looked out among his court and was saddened. Their service to him seemed vain and hollow. Alkuperä had allowed them many powers but with their potential locked since they had no outlet for them. The Great Beginner decided to paint for them a kind of picture. An idea of a great space for them to express their full nature to him; to allow them to use their potential to make and experiment, to use their very beings to express their desires. But most importantly, he gave his court the freedom to alternate his idea, to change the painting if they so desired. Only in the freedom to do as they desired could the worship and loyalty to him be truthful and with meaning. At the start the beings went out into The Space and worked to create this grand idea together. Much labor was done to create the stars, planets, and our world. To some beings though, it seemed as if their labor had not been appreciated us much as others. While some worked hard making the details in our world which would give it life, some worked out of place or in a greedy rush seeking more glory. Some saw the beautiful creations of others and feared they would fail altogether, and so sought out ways to sabotage the work being done. When the time of completion neared, many realized their work would not be completed in time. Some fought each other, mentally and physically. Some fought to keep the beauty, some fought to complete their own desires, and some fought purely to bring failure to others. The world may not have ever been completed to life if Alkuperä had not interposed. In an instant all the beings realized it had been a kind of test. He gave his gratitude to the loyal. To those who strove to add their own desires, he gave life to those objects. To those who showed complete disloyalty, he showed mercy. Not only that, but he also gave life to what labor they had completed, marred though it was. In all this he showed his true gift. In giving the Beings the choice to show beauty and loyalty he was able to give to them Love. Some of the Beings wept with joy, even some of the most troublesome ones. Some of even the most loyal rejected this act and in them grew bitterness at the kindness shown to those who had harmed them. Alkuperä idea was now half realized. This new life that was created now had a part of His being in it. He gathered the host of Beings and gave them the mandate of guiding this new life. To nurture this new world as it had part of him in it. He changed the likeness of the Beings, so the world could contain them; making them, as we might see it, weaker. He gave those who were most loyal to him leadership over the others. Each had power of areas which they had helped to create. Then Alkuperä gave each being instructions specific to themselves. What those instructions were is the greatest of mysteries.
