Tremovium
Tremovium is a strange material that tends to explode whenever it is not in motion.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Tremovium is sheeny green in color, and appears lumpy; it resembles nuggets of metal.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Unlike most volatile materials, which react when exposed to large amounts of force, Tremovium reacts if it is ever exposed to low amounts of force. If Tremovium is ever held still, it will quickly decay, resulting in an explosion.
Origin & Source
This material does not occur naturally anywhere, due to its tendency to self-destruct. It can be fabricated quite easily in laboratories.
History & Usage
Discovery
It was discovered during a period of time where different research facilities raced to discover new elements. Tremovium is not an element, nor is it particularly useful for any practical purpose, so it was quickly disregarded by its discoverers.
Everyday use
Tremovium has no practical use in everyday life. However, its explosive tendencies have caught on as a novelty; it is sold in small amounts, contained in small capsules that continuously vibrate and bounce the material around, as novelty gift items. Surprisingly, very few injuries have resulted from the malfunctioning of these cheap capsules.
At one point, some militaries considered using Tremovium in combat; particularly, in grenades. However, all of the proposed methods of keeping the material in motion until the grenade was “activated” were both unreliable and too expensive to justify wide usage.
Hazards
The only hazard in manufacturing this material is the risk of explosion, but as long as the material is being moved in some way it is safe. The only known large-scale failure in manufacturing Tremovium was an incident in which a factory briefly lost power to its conveyor belt system, resulting in an explosion that caved the building.
Distribution
Storage
Any amount of Tremovium must be stored in some type of apparatus that makes sure it is continually moving. This can be a capsule that vibrates, a loop of conveyor belts, an autonomous self-powered truck, etc.
Law & Regulation
In most parts of space, all production of Tremovium must be approved by a governmental organization, following an inspection of the production facility and a quick background check.
Type
Composite
Value
Due to its uselessness and risk, Tremovium can be purchased at extremely low prices.
Melting / Freezing Point
Still undetermined, due to how difficult it is to conduct research on this material.
