The Virsol Expanse

Central Elaion is comprised primarily of the vast plains of the Virsol Expanse. A grasslands spanning hundreds of miles, the Virsol Expanse sustains a wide variety of species. While some regions of the Expanse have been transformed into agricultural hubs that provide enough food to help feed much of the country, much of it remains otherwise untouched by the Elais, who tend to prefer the security of the forested regions. For though the Expanse is home to many smaller creatures, such as rabbits, foxes, and many species of birds, it is also home to notorious orc tribes, who consider the lands to be sacred. They are considered to be extremely territorial and aggressive to outsiders, encouraging the belief that the thick vegetation of the forests is safer.

Geography

The Virsol Expanse is largely a plain, intersected by countless small streams and one primary river. As the grasslands reaches its edges, particularly in the southeast, and begins to become dotted with trees, the flatness of the plain begins to transform into more rolling hills.

Fauna & Flora

The Expanse is home to many different species, the primary one being, naturally, wild grasses. These grasses are often dotted with flowers, bringing color to the landscape. As it reaches the dense forests of the southeast and northeast, however, trees and shrubs begin to appear. Many different animals consider the Virsol Expanse to be home. Rabbits, field mice, deer, and ground nesting birds feast on the grasses and its seeds, while predators - birds of prey, foxes, coyotes, badgers, etc. - stalk the lands for their next meal. Occasionally, a bear can be spotted on the edges of the plains, typically driven forwards by freshwater streams teeming with fish.

Natural Resources

Most of the resources found in the Virsol Expanse are those that are grown, often different types of grains, corn, beets, oats, and legumes. Others find that hunting leads to bountiful results of the natural ungulates upon the grasslands.
