Humans are one of the sapient species found in Iphars, mostly in Branul, Emea and Izura. They are a curious sapient species that does not like to fight.

Basic Information

Humans are bipedals animals that walk on their legs, using their front legs to balance when walking and to manipulate stuff, they lack of a tail and have sexual dimorphism, with the main differences being the genitals, the mass and heigh (man are usually bigger than females), and the hair appareance (males have more general hair and are able to grow a beard).

  • 0-1 years old, babies. They cannot walk nor talk, they feed of maternal milk.
  • 1-5 years old, youngers. They start walking and talking, they start eating other things than milk, thought they still are fed with milk, althought it is animal milk.
  • 5-10 years old, kids. They start learning, meeting people outside their family.
  • 10-12 years old, pre-teens. They are pretty much independents, thought they are still learning and living with family.
  • 12-20 years old, teens. They are fully independents, they start working thought do not stop learning.
  • 20-50 years old, adults. They leave their home, stop learning, and start a family of their own.
  • 50-60 years old, elders. They stop doing works that require strenght and skills, sometimes they even stop working.
  • 60-?? years old, ancients. They do not work and their families take care of them.

Civilization and Culture

Humans come from the same antecesor as the other sapient species except for the insertfairyspecies. They started appearing in Branul, only expanding to Emea some millenias after. Because of this expanding, the first two ethnicities appeared in the human species: the Exervite in Emea, and the Prelators in Branul. From both ethnicities would appear another one, the Dorren in Emea and the Praecepts in Branul. The Dorren left Emea to go to kreshath.
From a start, humans have started settlements in fertile spots with neutral animals that would not attack them unless provoked, and they focused on the agriculture and ranching rather than the hunting and fishing. The towns were created in the nature, altering the nature as less as possible, and they always took only what they needed. Humans towns grew when possible and needed, always respecting nature and evading conflict with other species, be it sapient or not.
First war in which humans were involved was when Kreanes started trying to come and conquer all Branul. Even then, most humans just protected their cities, barely any of them were seen actually fighting in the war and most of them were Prelators. The second war humans were involved was when the Kreanes and the Zetoni fought over Emea. Last war humans were involved was when "insertfairyspecies" started appearing in Iphars, exploring and attacking whoever stood in front of them.

Humans recognize two genders: male and female.
Males usually work on the food, agriculture, livestock, and hunting and fishing when needed. Females usually work on house-keeping and town-keeping. Both genders are expected to fight when there is need of and to take care of the kids and elders when the town is under attack. Both genders teach the kids and takes care of the kids and elders. Both are taught every job possible in the town, regardless their gender.
Usually, it is inconceivable that someone can think of themself as of the other gender or to be genderless, genders are determinate by the genitals when one is born, thought some ethnicity accept that a person may be born with wrong gender (principally the Praecepts).

Humans live a bit everywhere in Iphars, thought most of them are located in northeast of Branul, southwest of Emea, center of Kreshath, northwest of Kliras, and southwest of Izura.

Exervite are the most varied ethnicity, usually caracterized by their culture and not by a type of humans. They wear light and light colored clothes, and their hair is usually short.

Cultural differences

They are nomads, while most exervites live in tents easy to move around, some families like to have a couple of campments assembled at certain places and so they live at these places during certain times, usually the time they spend in the campments is determinated by the weather. They do not hate sea, but they see it too dangerous to travel and so they mostly stay in Emea except if needed, such as the exervites found in islands that surround the south of Emea, they moved in the islands because they were kicked out of Emea by Zetoni when the Zetoni and the Kreanes were in war.

Names traditions

Name: Exervite names come from everywhere as they take names from other cultures or species if they like them.
Last name: last name is not determined by their family, it is choosen by the role they do in the tribe and so, a exervite does not recieve a last name until they start working. For example, a exervite that takes care of sheeps is called Shepherd.

Body tints

Exervite mark their necks when they turn into adults. The marks in their neck represent their job in the tribe. If some person is exiled from a tribe or leaves to go to another tribe, their marks are burned unless their job in their new tribe is the same and the tribes do not have different symbols for that job.

Dorren are paled humans, with light colored eyes and light colored hair. They are tall and brawny. They always are dressed with skins and warm clothes, and their hair is usually long.

Cultural differences

They are fisherman and ranchers. They live in small towns near a source of water. They are great sailors and know how to move in frozen places (be it water or earth) with the less risk for the travelers. They are religious people that pray to gods before doing something that could be dangerous, such as when traveling by boat, they pray to the god of the sea.

Names traditions

Names: kids have a placeholder names until they become adult, then they are given a name according their most prominent characteristic (such as strongjaw or ice-eyes)
Last names: they do not use last names, instead, their last name are the names of their jobs.

Body tints

They do not mark themselves usually, except priest, who mark their faces representing the gods they work for.

The prelators are dark-skinned humans with dark hair and eyes. They are small and brawny, and are the ethnicity with more diverse clothing and hair style.

Cultural differences

They are the most combatants of the humans. They do not bother waiting until there is nothing of food in the village to go hunt or fish, they hunt and fish daily (mostly hunt), but only taking what is needed and always using every part of the animal. Once a week, they do a ritual for all the animals that gave their life so they could eat. While they do not seem to believe in gods, they believe in an afterlife and reincarnation (beings that died so other beings could survive are reincarned in a better life while the other beings go to an afterlife, they do not consider plants to be able to reincarnate or go to afterlife).

Names traditions

Names: there seems to not be a logic behind naming a children.
Last names: they do not have last names, but have nicknames in its place.

Body tints

They do not paint their bodies.

The praecepts are tan-skinned people with usually dark hair and light coloured eyes. They are small and brawny. Their clothes cover only what they consider necessary (breast in women and teenagers females, and the genitalia for both sexes).

Cultural differences

Praecepts live in highly inclined cliffs (aka cliffs with more than 105 degrees), where they can get food from fishes and plants that grow on top the cliff or in the cliff. Their houses are usually located on top de cliff or caved in the cliff, everything connected with artificial paths that are secured before the houses are build into the cliff. They most of time live with Kreanes, most specifically Larvaes.

Names traditions

Name: they usually name childrens after the grandparents.
Last name: they do not have last names as to determine of which family are they, but their last name is the zone where their house is located.

Body tints

They only mark people exiled, with a symbol representating the town they are exiled from.

I love the descriptions of the different ethnicities, and how they differ from each other! I think the one I'm most intrigued to know more about are the Dorren, though they all sound fascinating. :)

Glad you liked them! I think the Dorren and the praecepts will be my favourite to write about and the ones I will have more "material" to write about them! Unfortunately, dorrens will have to wait for now as they are not in Branul (if you check the map, branul is the continent southwest) and I'm focusing on them, but I'll surely write about them asap when I go write their home!
