A modern world where belief fuels everything. Belief is magic first and foremost, but it is also the building blocks of everything. The houses, the roads, the sky, divine entities, profane entities, you, me... It's all belief. With a strong enough belief, anyone can theoretically even become a deity, but because they are such massive forces of belief, it is highly unlikely to even come close to the forces of such beings, but they are very much real in this world. On the other hand, if all belief is lost in something or someone, it simply ceases to be. It is erased from the world, as if it had never existed to begin with. There is some peculiarities with lost items, which would, theoretically be erased from existence but archaeologists still seem to be digging up such things. Even the oldest recorded myths still have people to believe in them, even if only in an academic sense, and so they still exist, in the most tenuous of senses. What was the first case of belief, and why (and how, for that matter) did we all come into existence? Who knows. It is one of the great mysteries we wish to unravel.
