Karity

Karity is a religion believing in a supreme god, known in most languages as Kara or Kar. Nearly all religions in Invidia are a sect of Karity.
In a world where miracles in the name of Kara are rare but not unheard of, the existence of the god is indisputable to most people. The most devoted clerics of Kara are capable of bestowing healing and blessings, when favored. Such demonstrations of faith, which other religions could not match, converted every culture and people of Invidia to acknowledge the existence, and supremacy, of Kara. However, there are countless sects with wildly differing beliefs on the nature of the god, as well as their own rituals and mythology/scripture.
The major sects are the Ornuto, Polystras, Santairs, Duallians, and Tritians. Each of these sects has numerous smaller denominations.
The Ornuto believe in Kara alone. Their characterizations of Kara vary from loving and forgiving to judicial and impartial to jealous and prone to moodswings depending on the denomination and culture; other sects tend to characterize Kara as simply a benevolent deity. Khumara is officially Ornutan, though many of its people do not follow the official Ornutan denomination.
The Polystras believe that Kara is one among numerous gods, but is either the most powerful or most involved of these gods; the only god who cares about humanity as either its creator or the sole kindhearted god; or in one denomination, not any one god but a persona that every god uses when they interact with people. Just about every Polystran community has unique beliefs and acknowledges different gods in their pantheons alongside Kara. Nearly all of Vyland is Polystran, as are the dwarves.
The Santairs believe in one god Kara, but venerate several saints and/or archangels. Most Santair towns have a patron saint and have shrines dedicated to many of the more important saints as well as a central temple to Kara. It is the official religion of Korrin, and has sizeable minorities in Terrnor and Sarrin.
The Duallians believe in two major figures as either deities who serve Kara; the god's two children; or as just 'facets' or 'personalities' of Kara. They recognize Mistara as the goddess/personality of night, stars, water, ice, darkness, celestial light, nature, knowledge, mystery, the arcane, peace, and other attributes varying by denomination. Her counterpart Durin is the god/personality of day, the sun, fire, sunlight, agriculture, authority, government, law, dragons, war, and other attributes. They are prominent in Sarrin, and are the official religion in Terrnorr. Terrnorran towns typically have a temple for Durin but not to Mistara, who they believe is the goddess of evil.
The Tritians are believe in a combination of Duallian and Santair dogma. They revere Kara as a supreme god, and recognize Mistara and Durin as his chief archangels. They also believe in a third archangel, Nevaris, who oversees all matters not covered by Mistara and Durin. The exact split of domains varies from denomination to denomination, as does the believed gender of Nevaris. In addition, the Tritians recognize numerous saints and/or angels, including many of the major saints that the Santairs recognize. Each saint or angel is somewhere below one of the three archangels, with the most important directly serving one, while the others are farther down in a complex hierarchy. Most Sarrinar and Terrnoran rural communities are Tritian. Nevaris is generally held to be male in Terrnorr but female in Sarrin. The elves believe in the three archangels, but they do not venerate any other angels or saints. They recognize Nevaris as agendered.
