The twin sister of Apollo, Artemis was the Greek goddess of the hunt. As Apollo is the sun, she is the moon. She is a virgin goddess—near opposite of Aphrodite—and known as protectress of the innocent youth.
Above all, wild animals are sacred to Artemis.
