Interstellar Republic

The Interstellar Republic is one of many interplanetary nations to be found in the Milky Way Galaxy during the twenty-second century and beyond. Founded in the year 2115 on the planet Earth by the Human, Flitian, and Yalendian species. Earth remains the capitol of the Republic. However, the Republic was soon tossed into the ruthless political ocean that was the Milky Way Galaxy at that time.   Looking for an ally to guard them against many of their less known and more distant neighbors, many of the growing number of member species pressured the Republic to reach out a hand in friendship to the culturally similar and technologically advanced Milarans. The Milarans graciously agreed to enter a pact of mutual defense. A treaty was Signed in the Retum system in 2121, granting the Interstellar Republic its first greater ally just six years after its birth.   The Milarans' ulterior motives were at first kept from the Republic as they tested their new ally by pitting them against a loose confederation of warlords lying to the galactic north of the Sol system. The Republic emerged victorious but with a far larger territory to administrate. This led to the abandonment of the species system of governance for a far more tenable province system.   Nearly a century passed, and Milara decided they could hide the truth no longer. Representatives on Earth were furious, and the feeling was shared by the vast majority of their constituents. Thankfully, an even-headed Prime Minister named Joseph Fletcher was able to maintain the Republic's link with Milara in the face of a new threat.
