The Grasslands, A Bastion of Hope

WhereLife Grows Anew

Of all the lands of Interitus, from the mountains and the lakes, to the cities, and the mines, none such area is as fertile as that of the Grasslands. A land untouched by the greedy hands of mankind, the Grasslands serve as one of the sole bastions of nature, a place where even the corrupt nature of the world is unable to prevent the growth of life here. Within this pocket of the world, there grows herbs unlike any others, the restorative qualities powerful even to bring the dead, back to the world of the living.   There also grows here fruits and vegetables of the highest quality. Apples, pristine and untouched, as well as a wide array of root vegetables. Rumor runs that they are tended to be the very spirits of nature themselves, a force of rebellion against the world at hand.   Once per fiscal year, farmers from the closest village,Osgoloth, are known to make pilgrimage to these Grasslands, their carts laden full with tributes of all sorts, ready to be presented to the earth itself, in hopes of being rendered worthy of partaking in that which is found in abundance. Sometimes, the offerings work. Othertimes, these poor farmers find themselves being dragged deep beneath the earth, clawed hands grasping at everything within their reach. Those taken, are quickly after forgotten, no memories remain, nor does a corpse. Instead, there only sits a scarecrow where once stood a man, or woman.

Geography

For the most part, the Grasslands consist of a simple plains, covered in grass, and roots.. There are many streams and rivers that flow throughout the Grasslands, all ending up at a large, boot shaped river, known as Earth's Palm. Towards the southern areas of the grasslands, there can be found lush forests filled with apple trees, where these trees fall to the ground, a gift to any whom can reach them. Towards the north, a series of rolling hills can be found, from which strange, mole-like animals can be seen building homes beneath the ground. The earth that comes from these rolling hills makes for excellent bricks, and is coveted for this purpose.

Fauna & Flora

Strange, mole like animals. Root vegetables of all sorts. Apples that grow from an orchid. Honey, from a series of beehives within the same orchid.
