Looking for Players

One-Shot April!

Welcome, welcome! I am very pleased and excited to announce I will be running not one, but two one-shots for members of the community during april! This article is intended as a presentation of the two games I am planning on running, as well as general informations on when they will be happening and other useful infos.

Oh No! A God Stole Grandma's Cookbook

Intended for players familiar with RPG's - to be played in DnD 5th edition - all official content is allowed, UA and homebrew can be discussed with me through discord - date of game is Saturday the 24th of April, at 6:30pm UTC+2 - style of the one-shot is a heist

Djima had been very clear. If any of you wanted part of her massive inheritance, you had to get her cookbook back. It had been stolen from her by Laykan the Child more than a century ago- the god loved Djima Zorna's cooking, and wanted to keep the exclusive recipes for themselves.

And now, many years later, her descendants had been tasked with getting it back. The book had been locked away in the Alkhajul, House of the Two Moon, looked up to as a holy relic gifted to the priests by the Child God themselves.

Whatever your reasons to get the book back (you need the money, you wish to please your grandmother, something else entirely), the mission is clear. Break into one of the biggest temples of the country, and steal the book back.

In this heist themed one-shots, players will be incarnating distant family members of Zorna Alhariq, one of the greatest cooks the Danatelian Lands have ever known. Zorna is a half-elf, but players may feel free to choose any race available in the DnD 5e official rules as her family is comically large.

The game will make use of a few house-rules to make the experience more fun, players will be informed via discord of how these rules work closer to the game! (No worries, its easy stuff- nothing too complicated).

The Ghost Island of Manara

Intended for people who would like to discover RPG's! - to be played in Quest - date of game is Saturday the 17th of April, at 6:30pm UTC+2

The boat eerily creaks as it swings back and forth, carried by the waves. The air is cold and damp, you feel the humidity as the sea air slips into your throat and through your chest. Two hours since the fog surged from the sea, so thick that every step feels like moving in honey.

This hole affair reeked of danger. You had been hired by a man to fetch an item on a cursed island, with a pay well worth the journey. If only now you could survive it, and make your way back to shore.

In this one-shot, the party are a group of adventurers (who may or may not know one another before-hand) who were all hired by a mysterious figure by the name of Bahamul, the Merchant of Stars. They were tasked with retrieving a powerful artefact on the Island of Manara.

Players may play whatever kind of character they wish to for this one-shot - Quest as a system doesn't include for races in its mechanism, so these act as little more than aesthetic choices. Of course, they are encouraged to pick characters from existing ethnicities or more "regular" DnD races - though of course I'm open to discussion, and who knows- maybe we'll create something especially for you!

Once groups have been formed, I will send out a discord link to a server where we'll be able to discuss character creation and the like! For those interested, links to relevant articles will be sent. Both one-shots are being run in the current year of the world, meaning 298 I.A. If players feel like it, their PC's might even becoming NPC's I will be able to feature in my main campaign!

There are currently no plans of running either one-shot on twitch. It will only happen if an entire group is interested in doing so.

If you are interested in playing, please leave a comment on the post! (Please don't forget to mention which one-shot you would like to participate in!)

Aww mannn I didn't know if I was going to commit to any of the ol' one-shottery this month but the concept of playing through a heist on a temple for a cookbook is so interesting to me and I'm immediately hooked!

Hey, got a little bad news- I've fallen behind on my uni work and I don't think I can afford to run the one-shot for now. Hopefully during summer I'll have more time, if you're still interested I'll send you a message!

I'd be interested in the grandma's cookbook! I'm starting a 5e campaign and it'd be nice to do a test run using the system as a player!

10 Apr, 2021 22:04

how long is it anticipated to run?

10 Apr, 2021 22:13

Ooh, thank you for the interest! Normally it should run 4 to 5 hours with a half hour break somewhere in the middle, could be shorter or longer depending on what the players do ^^

Hey! So I've fallen behind on uni work, I don't think I'll actually be able to run the one-shot this semester, at least not until the summer break. If you're still interested then I'll send you a message!

Would be interested, but unsure of Timezone diff. How does 6.30 utc+2 translate to Australian aest? I think it means 4.30am... erm...probs not at my best ;-) but that grandma’s cookbook sounds awesome!

11 Apr, 2021 11:57

oh god yeah that is indeed a tough time to play at (ive done it. dont recommend), but if the whole thing is successful i might run some more at different times!!
