Delphi (Gamma One)

Written by _noxen_

The beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega

Basic Information

Anatomy

The individual resembles the dinosaur they were modeled after, often with more aggressive traits for predators. All predator types have minimum two sets of teeth, an outer row of teeth and an inner row of teeth, incredibly sharp claws, and four eyes. Prey types more closely resemble the dinosaur they were modeled after, with softer features, rarely more than one set of teeth, and three eyes.

Biological Traits

Originally meant to follow an alpha/beta/omega system, with alphas being protectors and mates, betas being workers that can step in for alphas, and omegas being breeders and caretakers. However, this was never fully coded into the genome, so things such as pheromone aphrodisiacs produced by alphas and omegas are rather weak, and all secondary genders are predisposition towards violence with the exception of betas, who were altered to function better as caretakers and healers who can mimic alphas and omegas, and all are at equal standing. Alpha males are born with male parts, alpha females have both, omega males have both, omega females have just the female parts, and betas have both but are sterile unless their mimic function has been activated. Originally reptilian in form, they've been altered to be mammals and have live birth but still keep the appearance of a reptile. Average intense power for just a small amount of muscle structure, and can lift on average 30 times their own body weight minimum, so most are rather lean

Genetics and Reproduction

Follows human reproduction similarly, with the only difference being that alphas can't reproduce with alphas and omegas can't reproduce with omegas. Specifics are the same as a human, as they're designed to reproduce relatively quickly for a long-lived species

Growth Rate & Stages

Grows a bit quicker than the average human, and is fully mature by 18. Only has primary and secondary colors up until roughly age 4, where they then begin to develop their increased natural senses. Any soulstone-related powers begin to develop by age 15, and are matured by 18.

Ecology and Habitats

Depends on the dinosaur the individual is modeled after. They were intended to have elements assigned to each dinosaur, but was accidentally coded as a recessive trait and was replaced by the individual either having strength, speed, or healing boosts being the dominant trait

Dietary Needs and Habits

Preferences and diet depend on the dinosaur they're modeled after. They're coded to be omnivores, however, so preferences reflect the dinosaur they were modeled after.

Biological Cycle

Coded to have regular twice a year heats, but they're easy to suppress and incomplete coding allowed them to manifest as short, only partially uncomfortable weeklong occurrences that usually only happen if the individual has adequate sustenance/environment and doesn't experience regular chemicals associated with fear/stress (especially with omegas. Betas don't have heats). Coloration usually fades during the winter months and brightens particularly in spring.

Additional Information

Social Structure

None

Domestication

None (failed after the escape of Anders, Aliko, and Aksa)

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Created as an easy source of living weaponry, but Anders and Aksa were the only two properly deployed on a mission

Facial characteristics

Depends, often smooth skin beneath scales so small and compact that the difference is nearly impossible to distinguish in most cases. Usually larger scales, spines, and feathers concentrate on the cheeks, neck, waist, hips, thighs, forearms, and tails, and spines can sometimes take the appearance of horns

Geographic Origin and Distribution

All surviving live in the Eden parallel

Average Intelligence

Incredibly smart on average, though intelligence does change depending on the dinosaur it was modeled after

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Enhanced senses, most prominently sight, hearing, and smell, but a flaw in the genome makes it so that one of these three often fails early in life or they're born with a disability related to the senses. Able to detect spirits but cannot physically see them due to the nature of their soulstones, as theirs are underdeveloped. This makes it so that their magic is channeled into enhancing the senses they're born with, most prominently in highly advanced camouflage and the ability to take on two most powerful forms--a human-dinosaur form and a dinosaur form. They are also able to feed off of pure energy due to this ability, and have increased hot/cold/starvation/thirst resistance. They're also capable of incredible self-reparation, and so long as it's an organ that isn't damaged they can produce stem cells to grow back an arm or leg within 2-3 months. However, this ability is negated if the damage is done by an ethereal metal or is fire or magic inflicted.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

None

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

At least one of the individual's names often reflect the dinosaur they were modeled after, with the concept of last names being replaced with second names that function either as midde names or alias last names

Gender Ideals

All primary and secondary genders are equal, and the pronouns are really up to the individual depending on how they feel like gendering themself.

Courtship Ideals

Faithfulness is preferred over romanticism, and choosing a mate can take years to finally decide

Relationship Ideals

Alpha-Alpha and omega-omega relationships are somewhat viewed as unnecessary and unable to function, and betas are sometimes viewed as not being real mates since they have to mimic either an alpha or an omega for the relationship to function. But once a pair are mated they're intended to be completely loyal and faithful to each other, with the alpha serving as the dominant in the relationship. But alphas don't own omegas in the sense that their every action is dictated by the alpha. However, a marked pair is incredibly difficult to separate, as the alpha is often protective of the omega, and claiming marks (caused by a bite to the scent gland close to the crook of the neck) are impossible to get rid of but can begin to heal after separation from the mate for an extended period of time (betas cannot be marked unless they've shifted to become either an alpha or omega).

History

Created by the angels as a living weapon species, as well as slave replacement for demons. Their intended purpose was to be integrated into Blackwash once it reset, utilizing dinosaur DNA to create an evolved species that was loyal to them and would replace humans, triggering a butterfly effect that would wipe humans out universally, replaced by similar species that were all loyal to the angels. Thus, Anders Velci (Alpha 0), Aliko Skye (Beta 0), and Aksa Pterran (Omega 0) were completed, each modeled after the Velociraptor, Alectrosaurus, and Pteranodon respectively. However, after Aksa was injured and taken for "recycling," Anders and Aliko escaped from the facility they were being held in, rescuing Aksa before accidentally jumping to Earth's orbit. The ship they had stolen was shot down, and the impact from the half of the enormous craft that hit was enough to entirely wipe out the dinosaurs. They hid in specimen preservation tanks due to escape pods not being functional, and the impact split the labs in half, both landing nearly a quarter of the globe away from each other. With her tank shattering, Aksa woke up shortly, but false readings made her think that the others were dead, and she left to hide in the then abandoned Eden parallel. The Ice Age then froze Anders and Aliko, further causing errors in their tanks and making it so that they didn't wake up until the 21st century

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Distinct hatred of angels, and often operate on an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" basis
Scientific Name
Sapien dinosaurum
Origin/Ancestry
Cretaceous-Period Omega Timeline Earth
Lifespan
4000-5000 years
Conservation Status
Endangered (245 created, 3 survived)
Average Height
5'8"--6'9"
Average Weight
175 lbs--260 lba
Average Length
Depends
Average Physique
Very fit, and a bit on the lean side in musculature. Their muscles are designed to have incredibly high output for a small amount of muscle, so they're naturally able to lift a semi truck with only a small bit of effort
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
All colorations are minimum three-color, with a main color, a secondary color, and an outlining/bordering color. Dots and lines are the most common to see, with things such as runes and whorls being uncommon.
