Luxury for a Price

Some hotels seperate the rich from the poor; the Soma-Burke separates the rich from the richer. Despite its rather traditional and plain exterior design, the elegant resort is the go-to hotel for travellers who can afford the stay. Once through the unexceptional doors, the true beauty the forty year old hotel has to offer begins to shine. Two bars and three resturaunts have the privellige of residing in the Soma-Burke, all of which are extremely high-class. Two indoor pools, a sauna, a massage parlor, a barber, and two theatres are available for customers, who will spend about 600 dollars per night at the hotel, or around half what the average Ponturan citizen spends in a month.

Arcusa Funded, Arcusa Operated

While there is no way to prove the original funding to build the resort came from criminal sources, most guess that the money came from the Gyoro Clan. Whether or not the hotel is used for actual clan operations is unknown, but the owners provide payouts to the clan and discounts for members. It isn't uncommon to see a small group of a local arcusa family staying at Soma-Burke for short periods, but customers don't complain; to them, the arcusa are just another measure of security to keep out ruffians.

Recommendations Only

The Soma-Burke practices an unusual system of aquiring new customers; they don't advertise themselves but instead rely entirely upon the customer's to recommend the resort to others. It is said that when you call them, the first question they ask is "who recommended you?". Some have even complained that if you tell them no one gave you a recommendation, they hang up. Several reporters have attempted to get inside, with one getting all the way to the door before being turned away.
