Today I finally found one, a Necropath. That only took five years. The Eiresiren's are quite protective of their death priests, keeping them hidden from prying eyes, like myself. I won't deny it. They don't want me around and I was going to be around anyway.
Briefly, from what I've learned about their priesthood. It is ancient, easily going back at least a hundred thousand years. They're led by a council of high priests, which seems to consist of their most powerful kinetics and one other special kinetic that they call the Protector. I've no idea who their current Protector is, as apparently there is a new one every generation.
Onto their abilities. They have great control over dead things, which is just bizarre. Other kinetics powers make a bit more sense and I can see how we can counteract them and even find ways of replicating them. Not with the Necropaths. They can use anything dead and are apparently immune to most poisons that have been thrown at them. One raised a fully a rather savage animal and commanded it to assist them in battle. I wish I could just get closer, a better look at them specifically. I know answers are there, I need one.

I managed to get my hands on a Necropath! He's fairly young, maybe my age and he's quite upset. I mean, he is tied up to a tree, gagged and I've done what I can to suppress his powers. There are a couple things I can do, just need a blood sample. Firstly, a physical exam of my...guest.
Again, he appears to be in his mid-twenties, though with kinetics that can be deceiving as they can live well over a hundred and fifty years, so he could easily be in his forties, even fifties. The blood test should give me a more accurate idea of his age. Otherwise, he seems healthy, if pale. Almost frighteningly pale. His fellow countrymen are much darker in complexion than he and the other Necropaths tend to be. Then there are his eyes. They are a ghostly blue. He's strong and appears healthy otherwise. I'll have to feed him something soon. I wonder what he likes?

Blood test results are in. Hardly any information. I've taken to looking through his book, a Necronomicon. It's quite strange. While it provides useful information, I'm having to peel the religion back and away from the practical skills and abilities, but it really has been enlightening. It is also a very heavy read, making me quite drowsy in my attempts. I know my fellows would tell me to start opening him up and examining his insides but that doesn't sit well with me. That would give me information, but it would also kill him. I'd rather he live.

So, I've been just speaking with the Necropath over the last few days, reading his Necronomonic and asking questions. He's been silent, even though I ungagged him. Until this morning that is.
He finally spoke. It was to correct a misconception I had that really irritated him. At least I know that they don't worship death now but instead they consider themselves keepers of the balance and guardians of the veil. Their chief god is a death god, but he fills a role similar to them, a protector of souls and warden of the edges of the void, the edge where the gap to hell is.

I had to leave my guest and flee the region. His fellows had finally tracked him down and a dead Necropath is such something that is begging to come back and haunt me, so I left him alive. I'm not in the mood to have to deal with an angry soul. That's something I learned from his book. I'll compile my notes and make them more coherent once I get back to Coruscare. This will please the emperor greatly. We now know about Necropaths, and how their abiliities work, enough to defend against at least.
