Anamcoill
"What are you doing?! No! Get back here! This is Anamcoill, the Dryads home. Wander from this path and you will most certainly die. And once you do, your soul will be forever trapped, haunting the forest with your cries as you search in vain for an escape!"
Whether the tales are true, that one's soul becomes trapped within the trees at death should you wander astray, one thing is certain; leave the road and you won't find it again. Your soul might escape but your body sure won't.
Geography
The forest is dense, hard to traverse and dark. While during the day there is a decent amount of sun that reaches the forest floor, it is filtered through the heavy canopy and tinted green. There are rivers that flow wildly though it and to the west is the Spine, the great mountain range that separates this inland forest from the coastal neighboring kingdom, Illary. At night there is almost no light. There is but one road and if one were to stray off it, they would never find their way back.
Ecosystem
There are many dangerous animals that roam though the forest. Bears being the primary ones, along with small foxes, venomous snakes and poisonous bugs. Deadly spiders and toxic mushrooms are also abundant. This might make it sound like a horrible place but it has plenty of deer, it's multiple rivers are filled with fish and there are many edible plants, if you know where to look.
Ecosystem Cycles
The spring, the forest is full of life and by high summer the dense green growth covers everything. As fall approaches, the forest turns a myriad of colors and in winter it hibernates, coated in ice and snow.
Tourism
Stay on the road, don't touch anything and absolutely don't piss off the Dryads. They are not ones to trifle with, especially if you happen to be a non-Fae. They have no real desire to interact with those who are not of their kind.
