There is a diverse population on the largest continent of Vellet. The others are mostly home to one or two races each. On the main continent the largest kingdom is the kingdom of Dalanthar. It began about 1500 years ago with the marriage of an elf and a human. The elves for the most part stay out of the day to day dealings, but come in once every human generation to participate in the choosing of the next ruler. There is a small party of elves that stay with the government to represent the rest of the elves. The new ruler must come from the royal family, the half elves descended from the original elf and human. However they must also pass a variety of tests and prove they are worthy of ruling.   Other small kingdoms scatter across the land, with a variety of races in control. There are half orc tribes that are scattered around, a small halfling kingdom, a large Dwarven kingdom underneath the massive mountain range that divides the continent right down the middle running North to South.
