The Pantheon

Written by alimore

The Original Gods   All the gods in the world of Inanis are born of the primordial deities, Lucerna - Light and Tenebrae - dark.   All gods and goddesses are celestials and reside in the celestial realm, if appearing in the celestial realm, they will usually be in the form of something they represent (e.g. If the god represents love, then they may come in the form of a loved one, or if they represent freedom, they may come in the form of an eagle) or speak through objects like statues and shrines. This is because -- as they do have physical bodies -- they gain their power from the celestial realm, and therefore don't generally leave, and show themselves in spirit forms.   Fymir, goddess of The Hunt   Known as Fymir, the goddess of the hunt, but also sometimes associated with fertility and nature. She is often depicted as a tall, lean woman with long red to brown hair -- usually in some form of braids -- and pale skin. Some depictions even show her wearing antlers as an ornament on her head, (or perhaps they are real?). She is not often seen without a bow or other hunting weapon - like a spear, and sometimes even a rifle.   Uunia, goddess of Spirit and The Afterlife   Known as Uunia, the goddess of spirits and the afterlife. She is often thought of as someone who guides the dead to the afterlife and harbours over spirits. She is also commonly thought to be a spirit herself and the creator of the Spirit Realm. She is depicted as a tall but frail woman, who looks almost incorporeal or ethereal. With long white flowing hair, it almost always seems as if there is a light breeze flowing around her.   Farus, god of Solitude and Power   Known as Farus, the god of power and solitude but is also sometimes associated with madness. He was originally just the god of power, but power in Inanis is often paired with solitude. He is sometimes referred to as the "Mad God" and is often depicted as a tall middle-aged man, with short to medium length, white hair. He is often seen wearing a suit, usually with bright colours and patterns, or optical illusions; sometimes it even looks like the pattern is moving.   Qelos, goddess of Healing, Motherhood, Love, and Restoration   Known as Qelos (pronounced: Chel-ose), a goddess of many things; healing, motherhood, and most of all, love. She is sometimes referred to as Mother Qelos, for some think of her as the mother of mortals, beasts, and even spirits. She is usually depicted differently by everyone. Appearing to some as their mother, or a lost loved one. But every time, she is said to carry a warm and welcoming aura. Appearing like the sun is behind her, basking her in a sweet glow, with a gentle voice and the smell of home.   Dhelvin, god of Commerce, Fortune, and Eternity   Known as Dhelvin, the god commerce, fortune, and eternity; associated with currency and trading, he is the founder and creator of Inanis worldwide currency, known as Dhels (so creative I know). He is often depicted as an "ordinary" looking man, having no special discerning features. But he is usually depicted as fairly young, with a soft face, and short, strawberry-blonde hair. He is also known to be commonly wearing trader's garbs, albeit nice ones. He is one of the few gods who regularly visits Inanis' mortal plane.   Ygdione, goddess of Mercy, Justice, and Compassion   Known as Ygdione (pronounced: Ig-di-own), the goddess of mercy, justice, and compassion. She is often associated with the sun and the element of fire. She is usually depicted with blonde hair that glows in the sun, a fire in her eyes, and skin that is hot enough to burn.    Obhor, god of Earth and Judgement       Ereus, god of the Ocean, Knowledge, and Time       Carrius, god of Life and Death       There are other - usually more minor - gods, worshipped separately by certain religions/people, but this is the main pantheon. Other gods are either born from one (or more) of the Original or can be an ascended mortal or beast.   I will probably go more into depth into each god, about their history, origins, appearances, principles, etc., maybe in other articles??? Like with stories and stuff or something.   Art by Peter Mohrbacher
