The Revealer

And we shall do so forever more, until the Revealer comes back to take those of us who believe into a place we could never have imagined nor created on this lonely planet of ours."

Historical Basis
The myth has a basis in a real event, however there is no evidence in the mortal plane of it ever having been true. However, the Revealer is a real creature, and knows the story being told is not true.
Rather than The Revealer telling the people to worship, it actually offered two people a glimpse into the breadth of its powers as an offer of friendship. A third person was watching, and demanded that the Revealer show them too.
The Revealer refused gently, and the third person took that refusal as a sign from some sort of God, and created the small community that passes the story down.
The fate of the other two people is unknown, although in some versions of the story, the Revealer took then with it when it disappeared, leading the third person to think that if there was worship, it would come back and do the same for them.

The myth of the Revealer is not a well known one, and even then it is really only told through a select few communities - most of which worship it in a cult like fashion.
