Left Hand Soil

Left hand soil is a type of magical earth that is found lying underneath the topmost layer of soil. It can only be found using magical means, and can only be extracted by using the left hand side of something.   An good example would be when you extract it with your hands; to be able to extract left hand soil, you must use your left hand for it. When using a tool, you are unable to extract it if it only has "one side", such as a shovel. The work around for this is to use two of the tools in tandem, with the left hand side one digging up the left hand soil.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Physically and visually the same as regular soil, yet it has an innate magical signature that is detectable by most magic users. Keeps the same properties as the dirt it was extracted from and the dirt surrounding it.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Indistinguishable from regular soil, but can carry the same properties as the soil it came from and which surrounded it. So if the soil was toxic to plant life in any way, the left hand soil would also retain that toxicity.

Geology & Geography

Found most often in grassy fields, or any areas with a heavy dirt covering, as it can only be made at least one layer of soil down.

Life & Expiration

Left hand soil loses most of its magical properties after about a year or less through repeated use.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Left hand soil is used in many fae enchantments, curses, and rituals in place of regular soil. Its innate magical properties carry magical energy much easier through the rituals, and often lead to a more successful outcome.

Reusability & Recycling

Left hand soil can usually be reused after a ritual, providing it wasn't consumed or mixed with other substances.
