Praetor Octavius Caelius Deceangius (a.k.a. Yuintetius)

Caesar's Praetor at the time of Caesar's assassination, at the end of the Ninth Age.   Octavius's post-title, Yuintetius, means "Unkillable" in Imperine due to his numerous scrapes with death that he survived through apparent supernatural means.

Octavius calls Appius "laughing gull" for Appius's ability to make Octavius laugh counter to his mirth-free nature.   Appius calls Octavius "ocean eyes" for what Appius describes as Octavius having eyes that are, "deep, dark, and unknowable." Appius will often insert a joke after that describing Octavius's eyes as being full of fish poop, whale sperm, or something else humorous to deflect the sincerity of his affection.
