Origin
The Daughters of Hera can trace their origins back to the Mid and Late Amazon Empire as the Sisters of Law that was a religious-governmental body responsible for legislation and policy making. During the Last City period of Amazonian history the Sisters of Law was the primary factor along with the Sisters of Secrets and the Sisters of the Hunt that kept the Amazons together. While not the proudest period in Amazon history the brutal rule of the Sisters during the Last City is what allowed the codification of Amazonia Culture into a set of secret societies with a collective goal to recreate their Empire one dayDiaspora
The Diaspora is a period of time between the fall of the Last Amazon City, 417, and the Christian Revolt, 1285. The Diaspora is divided into four periods, Early, Middle, Late and Roman. Each Sisterhood has a different time period for Early, Middle, and Late but all come together during the Roman period.Early(417-472)
During the Early Diaspora the Sisters of Law hid primarily in Aegyptus with small enclaves throughout Alexanders former empire. During this period in the Early Diaspora the Sisters of law adopted the guise of a Greek Cult. Changing their name from the Sisters of Law to the Daughters of Hera, after the Queen of the Olympian Gods and Goddesses. Shortly after establishing themselves within the Aegyptian and Greek communities the Daughters of Hera were assisted in infiltration the Ptolemy family by the Daughters of Artemis and the Daughters of Nyx. By assassination of the residing Queen Eurydice and managing for their own member to marry the Pharaoh. The next generation had a Daughter of Hera on equal standing as the Pharaoh. Though the Daughters of Hera were undoubtedly successful in not only infiltration the society by taking near control of Aegyptus in a single generation but the practice of incest in the royal family caused division in the Sisterhood. Incest was always frowned upon in Amazon culture and a majority wanted to abolish the practice as soon as possible. The remaining minority in the Sisterhood argued that it was integral to the culture of the Aegyptians as well as a key to their religion so changing it would be difficult at best. The argument and debate on how far to go in order to achieve their goals until Arsinoe I married her brother to take her position as co-regent in 472 at which point all but a handful of members of the Sisterhood decided to abandon Aegyptus ending the Daughters of Hera's Early Diaspora.Middle(472-607)
During their Middle Diaspora the Daughters of Hera left the Greek world and set their sights on the Phoenician colonies. Primarily in the city of Carthego, as the Phoenician Hegemon is were the Daughters of Hera set their sights. In Carthego the Neo-Phoenician culture allowed greater autonomy for women which allowed the Daughters of Hera greater ease in acting, however had just as strict a class system as Aegyptus. With Carthago the Daughters of Hera changed their approach to that of the modern Sisterhood, that of social engineering from the bottom, freeborn populous and working their way up. By infiltration the Priesthood and lower guilds in Carthego it took ten years for a majority of the Freeborn women to be inducted into the Amazons. By infiltrating the priesthood and weaver guilds. The beginning of the Amazon Nieces, women who were Amazons while not members of a Sisterhood who still supported them in the periphery. During the first fifteen years they managed to introduce the idea of women in politics with a successful admission of Azibal into the senate. Just in time take advantage of the first Punic War(489-512). The political landscape was even easier to manipulate in the First Interbellum as Azibal was soon joined by more Sisters as the men were occupies by the revolt of the Mercenary Army orchestrated by the Daughters of Demeter and the Daughters of Nyx. Amazons took more power when Hamilcar diverted attention into expanding into Hispania. The Daughters of Hera were infuriated at the Second Punic War(535-551) as Hannibal managed to convince a majority of the senate to allow him to attack the Romans. The Daughters of Hera's found themselves leading the faction of the senate that was against the war and unpopular to non-Amazons at the start. They gained more support when Numidia sided with Rome and Carthago began loosing land in Hispania despite Hannibal's efforts in Italia and soon had full support when Scipio invaded Africa. After the war the Daughters of Hera commanded the most popular and powerful faction in the senate after the actions of Hannibal and his supporters made Carthago loose nine tenths of their territory, indebted them 10,000 talents of silver, and put Carthago under Rome's controll politically. In the fallowing Interbellum the Daughters of Hera gained much of what they wanted, near complete control of the senate and institutions that ran Carthago and begun to turn it into a new Themiscyra. However they found themselves lacking militarily and at the mercy of two power hungry opponents. The Numidians took more and more land during the Interbellum and when the Amazons fallowed the treaty and petitioned Rome for permission to defend themselves, but Rome was allied with the Numidians and they were denied. For forty eight years the Numidians took everything they could from the Amazons until they threatened the grain fields that fed the city and the Amazons were forced to break the treaty and defend themselves, driving the Numidians out of the farms that fed the city. Rome then used this event to justify attacking Charthego and starting the Third Punic War. Roman Legions arrived and demanded the surrender of all arms and armor, feeling like there was no other choice the Daughters of Hera accepted their demands until the Romans demanded the abandonment of the city and for them to resettle ten miles inlandLate(607-813)
