Tattoo of Imnnacon's Wound

Many folk in towns and villages along the northern coast of Fulira sport a tattoo of an island commonly known as Imnnacon's Wound. It originated in a small fishing village along the coast. The village lives within the shadow of the island. It's inhabitants believe that it is a temple to The Leviathan.
One year, scarcity and hardship befell the village. The island had erupted, decimating the local fish populations. The villagers believed that they had somehow angered The Leviathan. The Priests said that they should go to the island and plead for her mercy. The villagers sent their young folk to the island, but none returned.
Leviathan, glory be to You. We beg your mercy in this time of trouble. Accept our suffering so that we may start afresh in Your divine grace.
— Drowned One prayer
Their loss was felt deeply by the community. Their grief exacerbated by the year of hardship and the fact that the lost children represented an entire generation for the small village. Villagers started getting a tattoo of the island. To them, it was an act of mourning, a symbol of a great loss, and a plea to The Leviathan for mercy.   Over time, other sea faring folk along the coast began to get similar tattoos when they would lose a loved one to The Leviathan. Further inland, the tattoo would lose its connection to The Leviathan, but still retain its meaning of great loss.
