Summer Camp 2021 Imaginaerium: Day 4 in Imaginaerium | World Anvil

Summer Camp 2021 Imaginaerium: Day 4

Hello everyone!
If you are doing Summer Camp, and have not yet joined the WorldAnvil Discord, I highly recommend it! It is full of awesome, helpful people who'll be there to hype you up and help you out with any prompts you might be stuck on. It is all around one of the friendliest and best communities on the internet.   Today I wanted to share a Youtube channel called Navajo Traditional Teachings, which is just about that. It is always a good idea to get the different perspectives and learn about other cultures, both for world-building and being a generally well-rounded individual. Hopefully, you'll find it interesting, enlightning, and useful.

For today's Imaginaerium, we are going to peer into the brilliant minds of the Anvilites who are taking part of Summer Camp and see what advice they have for us. One of WA's greatest assets is its amazing community, so lets get better together.   Today, we're talking to forge legend, BasicDragon!

Tell us about yourself!

I'm a currently 40 year old worldbuilder that enjoys coming up with characters and the worlds that have shaped them. I enjoy reading cozy mysteries, romances and fantasy/adventure. In that order and especially when they contain LGBTQ characters.

What world are you working on for Summer Camp?

I will mainly be working on Idyll (https://www.worldanvil.com/w/idyll), but I will be doing prompts for two of my private worlds as well.
Check it out here:
Idyll

What is your past experience with Summer Camp?

I have enjoyed them and the articles that spawned during it. I don't think that I would've come up with those articles and the path those articles set my worlds on without Summer Camp.

What did you learn from the past Summer Camps?

To just have fun with it. The articles don't have to be long or fancy. I can make them fancy afterwards.

How do you go about generating ideas for the prompts?

I brainstorm. I ponder what ever thoughts come to mind when I look at the prompt. I usually don't have any problems coming up with an idea when I look at all of them and try to connect them. I like it when they have to do with each other. XD

What's your approach to this Summer Camp?

To have fun with it!

What's your tricks for staying on track?

I think about the prompts and my worlds all day every day. XD

How do you handle those bad days when we get stuck or can't seem to get writing done?

I can't really say that I get stuck. I immerse myself in my world and power through the writing blocks. But if I for some reason can't write one day then I have already planned for it. I write about 1-2 prompts a day to gather up for those days when I either can't write or something comes up so I don't have time to either plan what I should write during the day or I don't have time to sit down and write.

How many prompts are you aiming to complete?

Diamond or Die! ...well, actually I'm planning to write 41 prompts. ...my two private worlds should get at least 5 articles each from the prompts that I think most suit them.   And here's some music to keep you company while you write.     As a bonus, a lot of this channel's music is copyright free - so if it fits your world, might be worth checking out!
If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word.
