The world has been in disarray since Bahamut caused the calamity 80 years ago and then vanished. Meanwhile tensions rise as Varis yae Galvus, the crown prince of the Gestahlian Empire, seeks to finally eradicate any remaining resistence in the west.   Theme: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few; Folly of man.   After the wrath of Bahamut almost destroyed the world Varis believes the only way to ensure such destruction never happens again is to destroy all the remaining Eidolons. While his campaign in the west was ordered by his Grandfather, Solus zos Galvus, he uses it as a front to further his own goals.   He doesn't realise that Bahamut didn't destroy Dalamud but was instead imprisoned inside it and that past Legates were partially responsible at his Grandfather's behest.
