Fermund Forest
The dark forest shrinks only before the lone Mountain. Whispers are heard echoing into the darkness and eyes watch from every crevasse. Yet that has not stopped a brave few from settling there. Those who find themselves settled in this forest are quick of wit and keen of mind. Not everything may be as it seems.
Geography
An expansive forest filled with tightly packed trees. These trees are largely deciduous with the occasional evergreen being added in the northern regions of the forest. The overall terrain is difficult to move through unless on a previously well cut path. Dense underbrush and odd large boulders make trailblazing difficult but not impossible. There is a large mountain that the forest borders on three sides and seems to peel back from after nearing the base of the mountain. Some rivers can be found running throughout the area, however the main source of water to the nearby areas is the rain. From far off, the forest looks like a solid wall of trees however, as the distance lessens, a strange feeling envelops those who draw near causing them to see snippets of life in the shadows. There is a dark beauty about the place; even on the brightest and hottest days, the forest shields even the birds from the rays.
Natural Resources
Wood and small game are the main resources exported from the area. Within the outer part of the forest, woodcutters are able to produce large amounts of wood at a staggering pace. The game is just enough to feed those who live near by. Anything more has to be farmed on nearby fertile land.
History
Little is currently known about the inner workings and history of the forest. However, many believe that there is a group of people who managed to master the forest and settle inside a few hundred years ago, never to be seen ore heard from again.
Tourism
Those who have ventured through the forest are looking for something. For some that was death, which they quickly found. For others: an escape, for which they found in one way or another. Or for the truly desperate, treasure. Only a handful have ever returned from the inner forest. They spread ideas of wolves larger than men, bears coordinating attacks, and a scarlet haired woman who's eyes glow pure white. Not much else is known about the forest for the few who did return alive were either too old or too scarred to remember.
