Summary
The White Dragon of Yysmin is a snow white dragon with the ability to transfer between realities. In some tales it brings other dragons or even a sentient on some exotic journey to unimaginable realities. One such person was the Dakuin, Isos. This very tale was the one to spark the entirety of the religion of Xaleism.
The White Dragon is also one of the few mythical creatures to appear in other myths. It's present in the Wooden Boy myth as well as the Goat King myth. In both tales he is seen as a traveler, merely stopping by or causing some sort of cataclysm.
Once more his power goes beyond even reality movement, the beast can also breath a white hot fire which cinders even the most sturdy of constructions. He is often depicted it with such fire in many of his appearances.
Historical Basis
Yysmin is a real location in the northern mountains. It's a small village that hosts a large amount of snow during the winter time. While there have been many dragons spotted near the village, none have been reported or recorded white. However, a tome was found that claimed to be a true telling from the perspective of a man named Xale. Xale was a scholar during these times and throughout the course of his life wrote a magnitude of scientific expose' and researched rare sightings. Through his life, he had been extremely well received in the scientific community, with multiple eye witness accounts and other researchers testifying his claims. All of his work had been cited and fact checked until this tome was found.
In the tome read that Xale was in the mountains near Yysmin when he met a man named Isos. Isos was a rare subspecies of Dakuin that had been able to grow hair in the exchange for less mana. But in being so, he felt he had connected more with the natural world around him. But he sought more, Xale wrote. Isos was so sure that there was a dragon in the mountains nearby that he spent over 17 months in the freezing ice searching, Xale stayed with him out of pure curiosity. Finally on a day a year and half later, a boom was heard and a trembling began beneath their feet. Before they could think a massive white dragon the breathed white fire tour through the sky in front of them. Without thinking Isos jumped from the ledge they had been camping on and landed square on the dragons back. The dragon screeched and yawed attempting to fling him off. But Isos wouldn't budge. After struggling some more the dragon reared its head back and blasted more fire in front of them. Powering through the flame they both vanished. Xale, struggling to understand the events he just saw wrote down as much as he could in the tome.
It is unclear how the tome was lost but the event changed Xale. He lusted for more knowledge on the dragon and spent his last dying years attempting to find more about it to no avail. Hundreds of years would pass before his tomes would be found and create a religion in his name.
