Monastic Tradition - Way of the Beast

The Way of the Beast teaches its students to move with the caution, nimbleness, power and ferocity of the beasts that walk upon the earth. They view the beasts they emulate as teachers, beings to learn and grow from, eventually surpassing them.

Sacred Beast Style

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level you will gain access to 4 styles of Martial Arts knows as Beast Styles, emulating the equally magnificent and graceful forces of nature. You can choose one style and the higher level features of this Monastic Tradition every Long Rest.
  • Way of the Tiger: Your unarmed strikes gained unrivaled ferocity. When you hit a target with your unarmed strike the hit's damage will increase by an additional damage die based on your level, as can be seen in the Way of the Tiger Damage Table.

  • Way of the Crane: The crane is both intense and precise and you've learned how to apply this to your fighting style. You can add half of your Proficiency Bonus (rounded down) to the Attack Roll of unarmed strikes.

  • Way of the Snake: Like the slithering lizard, you are able to slip through the cracks of the most solid wall faster than most would expect. On the first round of combat, if your initiative is higher than that of the creature you're attacking, all of the attacks you succesfully land on that creature count as a critical.

  • Way of the Dragon: More powerful than most creatures, Dragons command the very elements to their whims. You have trained to do the same with the manipulation of your Ki. You can choose one Element from those available to Dragons and gain Resistance to it. Additionally, your unarmed strikes can become coated in such an element. You can inflict Elemental Damage from the Chosen Dragon equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom Modifier to a single unarmed strike once per round.

Bestial Fortitude

At 6th level your body has started memorizing the traits of Beasts, making them your own to employ in combat.
  • Coat of the Tiger: Mighty beast that it is, the tiger displays strength and grace. You are now proficient in Athletics, if you already had proficiency with this skill you can now add double your proficiency bonus. You now have resistance against Bludgeoning Damage.

  • Plumage of the Crane: Swift as the wind, you become proficient in Acrobatics, if you already had proficiency with this skill you can now add double your proficiency bonus. You now have resistance to Thunder Damage.

  • Scale of the Snake: Unseen by most, the snake is a dangerous beast to antagonize. You are now proficient in Stealth, if you already had proficiency with this skill you can now add double your proficiency bonus. You have resistance to Poison damage and have advantage on Constitution Saving Throws to avoid being poisoned.

  • Hide of the Dragon: Scales like that of a dragon protrude from your skin, providing more protection. You receive a +2 AC Bonus while not wearing armor. You are now proficient in Constitution Saving Throws.

Beast Instinct

Starting at 10th level your training and discipline have honed and overwritten your combat instincts with those of the Beasts you mimic. Each style will offer a unique reaction you can take upon an enemy failing an attack.
