Kobolds
"Small and unimpressive they may seem, but they're clever, studious and full of potential. Their teamwork is matched only by units in powerful armies. And even more impressive, they are just as ferocious as their draconic ancestors".

History
They are the diminutive descendants of dragons, although not born the same way as Dragonborn.
It is believed that Kobolds were the result of Polymorphed Dragons breeding with different mortal races, more specifically Half-Dragons trying to spread their influence through their bloodline. Eventually resulting into an evolution of small draconic creatures that resemble dragons in many ways.
They are omnivorous, just like Dragons, although there is a definite preference to meat if the possibility is present. Clutches typically have a fascination for power, something that is not easily attainable to them due to their small stature, at least in the primitive way of speaking. Due to the dragon blood flowing through their veins plenty of Kobolds have the potential to become sorcerers, although not all of them can do so.
They have a tendency to gravitate towards their ancestors, sometimes in order to seek protection from powerful threats, other times in order to vicariously experience the feeling of power by being in servitude of a powerful Dragon.
The scale color of the Kobold denotes a number of traits either about the individual Kobold or the region their bloodline comes from:
- Red: Usually located inland of the continent, settle in valleys or mountains with rocky terrain with similar pigmentation to their scales in order to camouflage during hunting hours. Often the most militaristic due to residing where dangerous beasts are more common, and as such follow the leadership of the oldest, most experienced Kobolds. They are known for being the most dedicated to martial combat amongst their brethren.
- Blue: Most often settled near the coasts of the continent, Blue Kobolds tend to build settlement near the water or in underwater caves with air pockets. Their hide is perfect for stealth in the water amongst other sealife. Often living in a tribal system, by the guidance of the most powerful amongst them, be it through physical or magical means. They employ the practice of ambushes in order to capture or kill prey, be it inside or outside of the water.
- Green: Almost always settling in very big forests, or jungles where the green pigment of their scales serves as an excellent tool to blend in with the environment. Their communities are often the most dedicated to the bond with nature, which means many of their members dedicate themselves to becoming Rangers or Druids depending on their connection to magic. They are the most free-spirited amongst Kobold. They live together in big clusters but authority amongst each other is not necessarily defined by a leadership role, but by trust in the wisdom of the individual. Young Kobolds typically do not receive this trust unless they perform extraordinary feats and have proven themselves.
- White: Commonly settled in cold climates, most of them are located in the north part of the continent, where snowfall and winter are the most prevalent. They work with a democracy, where as soon as a Kobold matures properly and has gained some life experience they will gain a say in the direction of the clutch's way of life. This subset of Kobolds specifically are very attuned to magic in their blood, for which there are many more sorcerers than on other groups.
- Black: Typically living in the mainland, not too far from other races or big settlements like cities but deeply in the Underdark, this specific set of Kobolds are very odd to outsiders. They are very in tune with magic, much like their white-scaled brethren, but the magic belongs to a very specific school, Necromancy. They practice freely what is to many other people a taboo practice in the creation and constant research into the realm of the undead. It is not particularly odd to hear about a Black Kobold Shaman in charge of a small army of undead.
- Grey: Dwellers of the surface of mountains and rocky areas, although sometimes they also settle in the Underdark cavern underneath such terrain. This set of Kobolds is well known for their tendency to be scavengers and tame beasts of that same diet. As such they are known for taming Giant Hyenas and Vultures.
