Aasimar

Civilization and Culture

History

Aasimars are mortals with a significant amount of celestial blood in their ancestry. This is usually the result of a celestial intervening in the conception of a mortal, essentially becoming a third parent. While not always benevolent, Aasimars are more inclined toward acts of kindness rather than evil, and they gravitate toward faiths or organizations associated with celestials.   Aasimar heritage can lie dormant for generations, only to appear suddenly in the child of two mortal parents, much like a dormant gene in a bloodline. Most societies interpret aasimar births as good omens, though it must be acknowledged that some aasimars take advantage of the reputation of their kind, brutally subverting the expectations of others with acts of terrifying cruelty or abject venality.   Demigods from Aasimar are rare, mostly due to the fact that Aasimar themselves are very rare, but they exist. Demigods born from this union are usually more powerful due to the fact that the amount of celestial blood in them places them more closely to godhood.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Aasimar usually have one unique physical feature that will make them stand out from any other humanoid, depending on the origin of their celestial parent. There have been examples such as uniquely colored hair, mystical-looking eyes, a halo, glowing birthmarks and so on. Such an example is that of a Tortle Aasimar of Poseidon, his shell could be made of coral, covered in barnacles or even made of sapphire.
