The Mummy of Ukhauaha

The sand burned at Lucius' feet. No horse would carry someone as hefty as an Oronian. He envied Agrippa's ability to ride a camel in this moment. Unlike the Sun Elf, Lucius' struggled less to run across the desert with his wide feet. This patrol was the most frustrating part of their job. Every day they walked across this area of the desert in case any invading army headed straight to Oro. Every time Lucius had been on patrol, nothing of interest happened. It was always another of his unit that would get the lucky days.   "How're you doing on water Lucius?" Agrippa said. He wore a wide-brimmed hat to shelter him from the sun.   "I'm doing fine. How is the horizon looking?"   Agrippa closed their eyes and started to focus. When he opened his eyes they were a pure white. Agrippa could see a great distance as he looked through the eyes of his hawk companion. He gazed across the horizon.   Sand.   "Same as it was four hours ago. Sand."   Lucius sighed. "I wish something exciting would happen. Even if its just a Sand Elf scouting party."   "I say be careful what we wish for. I would much rather have a boring day and keep my life. Rather than living the last moments in excitement."   "Such is the mentality of one able to live seven times longer than myself. I would rather live short but fun."   "You sound like a young bull in musth. Once you can live long term they might finally promote you out of this job."   "Whatever, I'll do it by being a hero-" Lucius kicked something hard. He stopped and looked down at stone sticking out of the ground. "Hey Agrippa, come here a moment."   The Sun Elf stopped and dismounted. He looked at the stone that Lucius had pointed to him. Brushing away some sand Agrippa's eyes went wide.   "Well? What is it?"   Agrippa stood. "Stay guard Lucius. I will be back. We are going to need a bigger team?" Agrippa jumped back onto the camel and ushered it on.   "What the abyss am I guarding?!" Lucius shouted.   "A sand elf sarcophagus!" Agrippa shouted as he took off to far for Lucius to see.   Lucius knew he could stand guard until he returned. That didn't make the idea pleasant, now that he was thirsty.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The sarcophagus of Ukhauaha to date has not been opened. Powerful magic binds and protects the sarcophagus from being opened. Numerous casters have attempted to open it or get within. All attempts have failed. Many speculate that Ukhauaha was buried with a legendary sword.

Significance

The mummified corpse of Ukhauaha was once a great king to the Sand Elves of the Skiak Trya desert. They believe he had been buried in his tomb. The sarcophagus was discovered near the Oronian Empire and brought to the city of Oro. Scholars discovered its significance in further study, its existence in the empire was used by them to negotiate with the Sand Elves. The two people met to negotiate the trade for their lost king. Negotiations broke down and the Oronians kept the sarcophagus. They have since put the sarcophagus of Ukhauaha on display in a museum in the capital city of Oro.
